Archbridge Institute Director of Programs Ben Wilterdink talks with Mason M. Bishop, an adjunct fellow at AEI and the owner and principal at WorkED Consulting LLC, where he works on federal and state workforce development and higher education policies, practices, and programs. From 2001 to 2007, Mason served as deputy assistant secretary for employment and training at the US Department of Labor. Before that he coordinated the legislative efforts to create Utah’s Department of Workforce Services. Mason breaks down the American workforce training system, how Utah became a model for other states, the role of community colleges, and why worker shortages might continue.
